Performance Prediction, Modeling & Analysis

Nationally recognized within the automated tracking and information fusion community, Black River Systems provides performance evaluation, prediction and algorithm maturation analysis to customers like U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. This work includes performance modeling and analysis of live and simulated data collection and experimentation exercises.

Measures of Performance

Black River Systems has worked with the Air Force and other contractors to develop accepted and meaningful Measures of Performance (MOP) for Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI) tracking.

These metrics are used both in the development stage and the program review stage to assess component and system performance based on defined areas of importance and program goals. The four stages in MOP development include: definition of goals, development of MOPs to address those goals, the implementation and iteration of the MOPs, and assessment and interpretation.

Typical MOPs include:

  • Horizontal Track Location Error
  • Track Location Error
  • Track Speed Error
  • Target Heading Error
  • Kolmogorov-Smirnoff Covariance
  • Target Continuity
  • Target Purity
  • Track Purity
  • Target Identity Lifetime
  • Probability Maintain Initial Target ID
  • Average Track Life
  • Track Redundancy
  • Probability of Declaration
  • Probability of False Declaration
  • Normalized Initiation Time
  • Normalized Throughput
  • Average Latency
