NITF Image Chipper

The NITF Image Chipper tool was developed for the Army to allow platform video display and georegistered image section chipping. Video input is performed through a high speed, 3 channel video capture card and a custom Microsoft DirectShow based filter component enables video capture capability.

Platform meta-data are supported through a standard plugin-style component interface. Adding platform support is as simple as encoding the meta-data stream according to this specification and providing the resulting object to all Image Chipper users.

NITF image chips encode necessary platform meta-data and mathematical transforms georegister the image chip to geodetic space, allowing for later import into GIS systems or other Intel applications.
