For an airborne radar, electromagnetic coupling effects between the antenna and airframe structure distort the antenna
pattern and increase sidelobe levels. Black River Systems has evaluated airframe effects antenna patterns on the
performance of low sample support Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP) algorithms. These algorithms were used
to simultaneously cancel clutter and sidelobe noise jamming for an airborne radar operating at X-band.
Airframe effects antenna patterns were generated using Numerical Electromagnetic Code-Basic Scattering Code (NEC-BSC)
and the Uniform Linear Virtual Array (ULVA) transformation technique was used to improve the STAP performance
by compensating for undesired electromegnetic effects.
